Cute Paws Sudoku: Sudoku with Paw Prints

Free · No download

No numbers, just paws. Mark X where nothing hides.

1 Level
0:00 Time
3/3 Hearts

Cute Paws Sudoku is a free Sudoku with paw prints instead of numbers. The grid works exactly like a real Sudoku: rows, columns and colored boxes. But you never write a digit. You only decide two things for each spot: a paw print goes here, or X, nothing hides here.

It starts with a tiny 4 by 4 garden and a single cat paw, so anyone can learn it in a minute. Then the boards grow, new friends join one by one, and the last levels are a full 9 by 9 Sudoku with nine different prints. Every level has exactly one solution, and you can always reach it with logic, no guessing.

Rules, tips and FAQ

How to play Cute Paws Sudoku

  1. Know the rule. Every row, every column and every colored box holds each paw print of the level exactly once.
  2. Place a paw. Pick a print below the board, then tap the spot where it must be.
  3. Mark X. Pick X and tap, or drag across several spots, to mark where no print can hide. On levels 1 and 2 the X marks fill in by themselves, from level 3 they are up to you.
  4. Mind your hearts. Every mark is checked right away. A wrong paw or a wrong X costs one of your 3 hearts.

Stuck? Hint shows the reasoning behind the next move, for example "this box needs a cat paw and only one spot is left", and then makes the move for you. You get 3 hints per level.

Each level is graded by a solver that thinks like a person: how many obvious moves you have at every step, and which techniques you need. Early levels need only a quick look, later ones ask for real Sudoku tricks such as locked candidates and pairs. You earn up to 3 stars per level, one for every heart you keep.

Tips for solving faster

  1. Cross out first. When a row already has its cat paw, every other spot in that row gets an X for the cat. Drag the X tool along it.
  2. Look for the last spot. A box, row or column that still needs a print but has only one free spot left gives you a sure move.
  3. Box to line. If inside one box a print can only sit in a single row, that print cannot be anywhere else in that row.
  4. One print at a time. With many friends on the board, follow one print across the whole grid before you switch to the next.

Daily puzzle and duels

Every day there is a new daily Cute Paws Sudoku: a fresh 9×9 board with cat and puppy prints, the same for everyone, with its own leaderboard and streak. You can also play a duel online or send a link to a friend: you both get the same board, the first to find every paw print wins, and a wrong mark locks your board for 8 seconds.

Cute Paws Sudoku FAQ

Is Cute Paws Sudoku a real Sudoku?

Yes. It uses the same rows, columns and boxes as Sudoku, and every level comes from a real Sudoku grid. Instead of digits you place paw prints, and on most levels you only look for some of them, which makes it easier to start. The last 17 levels are a full Sudoku with nine prints.

Is it good for kids and beginners?

Yes. The first levels are tiny 4 by 4 boards with one paw print, and the X marks fill in by themselves, so the rule is easy to see. The hints explain the reasoning in plain words.

What happens when I make a mistake?

Every mark is checked. A wrong paw or a wrong X turns red and costs a heart. With no hearts left you simply try the level again. In duels there are no hearts: a wrong mark locks your board for 8 seconds instead.

Is it free?

Yes. All 100 levels, the daily puzzle and duels are free, with no download and no sign-up. Your progress is saved in your browser, and a free account keeps your stats across devices.

Can I play on my phone?

Yes. The board and the paw buttons fit a phone held upright, and you can drag your finger to mark many X spots at once.
